Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is in danger of missing Sunday's Premier League opener against Newcastle United.
The Frenchman did not feature in Sunday's loss to Barcelona due to an ankle injury sustained last weekend against Lyon.
While he remains optimistic over Lacazette's return, manager Unai Emery admitted there was a chance he could miss the trip to St. James' Park.
"Hopefully he will be ready for the match vs Newcastle," Emery told reporters after Sunday's loss.
"The doctors are optimistic. The next days are going to be important if he can progress with his injury.
"If he is OK for Sunday, perfect. If not, for the next."
