Guardiola insists Man City did NOT humiliate Watford by hitting eight goals

Pep Guardiola insisted Manchester City did not humiliate Watford despite their 8-0 demolition in the Premier League.

The Blues were in irresistible form against the Hornets and led 5-0 after just 18 minutes at the Etihad before missing chances to add to the scoreline before half-time.

City added three more after the break and fell just one short of equalling the record win in the Premier League, and it was the intensity that the side played with in the second half that most pleased Guardiola.

"One of the things I like the most, the second half at 5-0, the team think of themselves and don't do what you have to defensively but it was completely the opposite," he said.

"We were more aggressive in our high pressing. That is why the second half is more than decent, we score more goals and we play good."

"The best way is to humiliate the players is to do the second half stupid things and play for themselves, make some fashion movements and that is the worst way to do that," he said.

"We play for the spectators, who come here to watch the game. I would not like to see my team in the second half play just how just… not run much because we are winning 5-0. That is a lack of respect for our opponents."
