Aston Villa 2-1 Leicester (3-2 on aggregate): Trezeguet nets last-gasp winner to secure Carabao Cup final

Early on, Leicester's James Maddison looked as though he may win it on his own. Thanks to Villa goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, he was not allowed to.
Somehow - against the play - Villa scored first, Jack Grealish setting up left wing back Matt Targett for a goal he may struggle to better no matter how long he plays.

For a while, that looked as though it may be enough. Both teams were excellent with Maddison and Grealish vying for midfield supremacy and, no doubt, the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate. And had new Villa signing Mbwana Samatta not missed two straight forward chances for his new team, there would have been no need for late drama.

Samatta looked distraught as he was substituted and soon after Leicester were level, Kelechi Iheanacho converting a Harvey Barnes cross at the far post with 18 minutes left.

We were heading for penalties, or so it seemed. But two minutes in to injury time one Villa substitute crossed for another as Mahmoud Trezeguet slid in a brilliant volley after a perfect delivery from Ahmed Elmohamady found at the far post.
