Naomi Campbell admitted she is 'very happy' to be able to get to 50 as she alluded to her past struggle with alcohol and drug addiction.

The supermodel told Daily Pop of her celebrations during lockdown: 'It was a surreal day. A surreal and serene day with social distancing with some friends. Just four of us. I'm very happy to get to 50.'

On her biggest challenge she finds herself facing during the coronavirus pandemic, Naomi said: 'The real challenges is I've had to do all these technical things, but in terms of my mind of physical wellbeing, it's not been a challenge at all.'

When asked what trend should stay forever, the model replied: 'I wear what I want, when I want to wear it. On Sunday for instance, I wore a dress from the 1930s. You have to wear clothes and not let the clothes wear you.

Alongside the post, Naomi thanked those close to her and also referenced her 'recovery family' who helped her when she was struggling with a cocaine and alcohol addiction.

She wrote: 'I would like to firstly say THANK YOU for all the birthday love, well wishes and blessings! I’m so thankful to have amazing people in my life and grateful for all 50 of my years on this beautiful planet, I honestly did not think I would get here.

'For those of you who endured me through thick and thin, the ups and downs, for my recovery family, who keep me on the straight and narrow, who stand discretely by [my] side I am eternally grateful.

'My journey so far has been extremely colorful, always reminding myself I am a work in progress, growing and learning every day. Without you all I would not be here, there would be no Naomi.

'And those of you, (you know who you are) your honesty, consistency and embrace means the world to me. I Love you all and know how much you all mean to me... And Mum thank you for me giving life and life lessons'.
