Barcelona finished the campaign without a trophy and it's been a while such happened to the La Liga side.
Recall that Real Madrid snatched the La Liga title few months ago. Everything came crashing down following their 8-2 loss against Bayern Munich.
It was the first time that the La Liga side will conceed eight goals in the Champions League.
This made the club to sack the coach, Quique Setien and club's sporting director, Eric Abidal.
Barcelona have suffered injury crisis following their goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has undergone surgery on a knee problem.
The 28-year-old has made 200 appearances for the club. He joined from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014.
He was in goal when his side lost in the quarter final of the Champions League.
The club confirmed that the player will be out for two to three months.
“Based upon the exchange with the medical team, the first-team player Marc ter Stegen will do a voluntary medical intervention tomorrow [Tuesday] on his right patellar tendon conducted by the expert Dr. Ramon Cugat,” read a statement on the club’s website.
“It is a proactive measure which is now done in order to prevent and prepare for the future, since the player had some irritations on the tendon earlier in the season."
