Earlier in the week, it was reported that Arsenal revealed their squad for the Europa League clash for this season, with likes of Mesut Özil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos being left out of the squad.

The former Real Madrid star hasn't played a game for Arsenal since the football returned after three months of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This time, former coach of the north London side, Arsene Wenger has given Mikel Arteta some tips on how to utilize Mesut Özil.

Speaking to Der Speigel , Wenger said: “He wasn't exactly the one with the greatest discipline on the pitch. And playing the game without the ball wasn’t exactly his forte. But you can deal with that if you put some more defensively minded players by his side. The main thing is to get the balance between attack and defence right.”

If you recall that Mesut Ozil joined the Gunners in 2013 for a then club record fee under Arsene Wenger. He created 19 assists in the Premier League in 2015/16 sesson.

But the German performance has dropped since the past two season, he's currently on a weekly pay of 350,000 pounds.

Arsene Wenger admitted that the way the game of footba4is being played today doesn't suit the former Real Madrid star.

“Players have lost their technical quality over the past 10 years,” Wenger argued. “Athleticism has become more important than technique and decision making. It's more about physical characteristics and intensity, about explosiveness. And it's also about being a showman.”
