Real Madrid have started their preparation for next season following the end of 2020-2021 season. The Los Blancos ended the campaign in second place after they lost the title to their rival Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid have appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager after Zinedine Zidane left his role as manager. Ancelotti returned to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second time. The former AC Milan and PSG boss left Premier League club, Everton to join Real Madrid.
Ancelotti has been preparing for the forthcoming season. The Italian boss has already sorted the future of Sergio Ramos who will be leaving at the end of June 30. Ramos contract will not be renewed at the club.
The departure of Sergio Ramos has left the role of captain vacant at the club. But Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has announced that Marcelo will be their new captain.
“Marcelo will be our captain next season. It's difficult to find another LB like Marcelo. Him and Roberto Carlos have been the best in the history”, Florentino said.
The 33 years old has been a long serving player at Real Madrid. He joined the Los Blancos in 2007 from Brazilian club, Fluminense at age 18 for an $8 million fee.
