Joe Aribo is a Nigerian professional footballer who joined Premier League club Southampton this summer transfer window.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria star made his mark in the game after he scored the only goal as Ralph Hasenhüttl side suffered 2-1 defeat to Spanish opposition Villarreal.
It was Villarreal who took the lead from Yéremy Pino’s first-half header.
But in the 64th minute, Southampton summer signing Aribo equalised with a sublime solo run on length of the pitch, leaving the Villarreal defense in ghost mode before he beat goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
Meanwhile Aribo thought he’d scored again soon after, only to be flagged offside.
Villarreal got the winning goal after their prolific Gerard Moreno struck a low shot across the keeper just before the end of the game.
