Jose Mourinho disrespected me after stripped me from jersey no 9 and benched me - Anthony Martial

Manchester United star, Anthony Martial has revealed that former manager Jose Mourinho disrespected him.

Anthony Martial, who is 26 years old is a French professional footballer who plays as a striker.

The France international came into the limelight after his move to Old Trafford stadium in 2015 for an initial fee of £36 million from Monaco.

Reportminds Blog understands that Jose Mourinho who replaced Louis Van Gaal took over as Manchester United's boss a year after Martial was signed.

Martial said that Mourinho disrespected him with his decision to strip him of United’s No.9 shirt following Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival in 2016.

Speaking to France Football, Martial said: "It started with the shirt number thing. During the holidays, he sent me a message asking me if I would change to No.11, explaining that it was great because it was the number of the legend Ryan Giggs. I told him that I had the greatest respect for Giggs but that I would prefer to keep my No. 9. And when I go back to the club, I see my No. 11 shirt, the story didn't go well."

The 26-year old has been struggling with injuries this term under Erik Den Hag.

Despite a great form during the pre season tour for Manchester United, he picked up an injury which made him miss the start of the new season.
Martial made his come back against Liverpool weeks ago as a substitute only to suffer another injury set back.

The Manchester United star added that Jose Mourinho decision to put him on the bench despite being club top scorer cost him his place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia where France lifted the trophy.

He added: "He disrespected me, directly. He talked about me in the press, little phrases, a bit like he had done with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. In the [2017-18] season, I was the team's top scorer in the first half of the season, he brought in Alexis Sanchez and then I didn't play much. It was the World Cup season as well, and it cost me a lot at the end, especially as the French team won. I should have been there."
