According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Victor Osimhen's fans are so enamored with him that they are standing in line outside the Stadio Maradona to purchase replicas of his mask in addition to his shirt.
The Nigerian international leads all scorers in Serie A with 17 goals in 18 games, including eight in his last six appearances.
He scored one in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Cremonese, and according to Gazzetta, Partenopei fans even lined up to purchase replicas of the protective mask he has been sporting for more than a year as a result of a cheekbone injury he sustained in November 2021 against Inter.
Before their match against Cremonese on Sunday, hundreds of supporters were seen in line to purchase Osimhen mask replicas from vendors outside the stadium.
The Partenopei hope to win their first championship in more than 30 years, and the pink refers to Osimhen as the "king of Naples.".
With 59 points after 22 games and just one league loss (to second-place Inter Milan), they are in first place in Serie A, and the chances of winning the league for the first time in thirty years are looking more and more promising.
While continuing to relish his outstanding performance, the 24-year-old continues to equal and break records in Italy.
Following the Argentine Gonzalo Higuain, who achieved the same feat while playing for Napoli in the 2015–16 season, Osimhen became the second player in club history to score in six straight games on Sunday as Napoli defeated struggling Cremonese 3-0.
The Super Eagles striker had since scored eight goals, including ones against Sampdoria, Juventus, Salernitana, AS Roma, Spezia Calcio, and Cremonese, after failing to score in Napoli's 1-0 loss to Inter Milan in January.
