It was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, Feb. 13, that 240 polling places across 28 federation-wide States will not hold elections.

Chairman of INEC Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this disclosure while speaking to Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) members at the INEC headquarters in Abuja before the elections.

He clarified that no voters are registered in the affected polling places.

With the 240 polling places excluded, he stated that there will be elections in roughly 176,606 polling places nationwide.

Additionally, the Commission issued a warning that it would not tolerate a scenario in which two or more party agents reported to the polling places and created confusion. Any agent found to be participating in such an act will be detained and prosecuted, INEC added.
