After losing 2-1 to Erik Ten Hag's Man United on Thursday night at the Theater of Dreams in the second leg of their Europa League playoff match, FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez expressed the "huge disappointment" that his team felt.

The Spanish side who are among the favorites to win the second tier of club European football have been knocked out.

The Blagurana took the lead right away thanks to a Robert Lewandowski penalty, and they played well overall in the first period.

However, the hosts outplayed them in the second half of the game, and they ultimately lost thanks to two goals from the Brazilian team of Fred and Antony.

If you recall that the first leg ended 2-2 at the Camp Nou last week, Xavi Hernandez had high expectations that his side will qualify with a win at Old Trafford.

In his press conference after the game, Xavi said that his team performed better than last season in Europe.

"While it appears that we have fared far better than we did last year, we still lost to Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Manchester. We have fallen short of expectations.

"To try again the next season, we must make a significant lot of self and try to be more competitive "With reference to recent failures in the Champions League and its inferior cousin Barca's elimination this evening, Xavi stated.

The Barcelona coach also admitted that his team weren't strong physically against Manchester United.

He said: "It's unfortunate because the squad stood up and deserved better. They are quite strong physically. Before attempting to look ahead. We could have dominated the game more."

Meanwhile, Xavi Hernandez has revealed that his side will now concentrate on the winning the La Liga and Copa del Rey in Spain.

Up next for Barcelona this weekend, it La Liga clash with Almeria.

He concluded: "The only thing that is good is that we already have a game on Sunday and need to concentrate on Almeria and the cup semifinal on Thursday.

"There are still two titles up for grabs, and we intend to win them because they are crucial for the team, he said.
