Joao Cancelo has rejoined Manchester City, according to Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich declined to sign Cancelo on a long-term basis.
A permanent option was included in the January loan agreement that brought the Portuguese defender from City to Bayern.
Cancelo will, however, be returning to his original club, Bayern said on Friday.
Joo Cancelo appeared 21 times for Bayern Munich.
The Portuguese international is expected to quit Manchester City this summer after returning.
Cancelo and Pep Guardiola reportedly had a falling out, and the player would want to transfer elsewhere.
Under Guardiola, Cancelo's place in the team's hierarchy declined, forcing him to move on loan to Bayern.
However, the German team declined to make deals Cancelo to Manchester City for the amount that they demanded.
If Pep Guardiola wants to entice prospective teams, he may lower the player's transfer cost, although that is doubtful.
