Inter Miami suffered defeat in the absence of their captain Lionel Messi in weekend's match. 

Atlanta United thrashed Inter Miami 5-2 in their MLS fixture.

Lionel Messi missed the match following his participation with Argentina during the international break. 

Messi didn't return to America in time for this weekend's match against Atlanta. 

If you recall that the 36-year-old footballer scored in Argentina's 1-0 win over Ecuador weeks ago. 

But he missed Argentina second World Cup Qualifiers match against Bolivia due to injury.
