Jose Peseiro Provides Update on Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's Injury Ahead of Nigeria vs Angola Quarterfinal Match
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are gearing up to face the Antelope of Angola in the quarterfinals this week, with coach Jose Peseiro offering insights into the team's fitness concerns.
Following their impressive 2-0 victory over Cameroon, secured by two goals from Ademola Lookman, Nigeria secured their spot in the next stage of the AFCON tournament.
On the other side, Angola earned their quarterfinal berth after defeating Namibia in their previous match.
Despite concerns over goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali's fitness, injured during the clash against Cameroon, Peseiro remains hopeful about his availability for the upcoming match against Angola.
Expressing optimism, Peseiro stated, “We have to wait 24 or 48hrs to know what is wrong with him but I hope he will be available for the next game.”
In the event of Nwabali's absence, Nigeria will likely turn to Francis Uzoho, who stepped in to finish the game against Cameroon, to fill the crucial goalkeeping position.
