Arteta Anticipates Timber's Comeback from Lengthy Injury
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expresses optimism as 22-year-old defender Jurrien Timber is named in the squad for the Champions League knockout stage.
Jurrien Timber, who suffered an ACL injury in August last year during his debut Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, is on the path to recovery. The Dutch full-back, having joined Arsenal from Ajax last summer, displayed great potential during the pre-season campaign.
Despite the setback leaving Timber sidelined for several months, recent reports hint at a possible return to training later this month. Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Arteta has included Timber in the Arsenal squad for the upcoming UCL knockout stage.
Arsenal is set to kick off their campaign in the knockout stage against Porto next week. Arteta, having guided Arsenal to a second-place finish in the Premier League, securing a spot in the UCL, remains positive about Timber's return despite the team losing their lead in the league to Manchester City after more than 100 days at the top.
