Liverpool Star Luis Diaz dedicates Carabao Cup win to parents after their kidnapping last year
Liverpool's triumph in the Carabao Cup was not just a victory for the team but a deeply personal moment for star player Luis Diaz, who dedicated the win to his parents present at Wembley Stadium.
The Reds clinched their 10th League Cup trophy in a hard-fought final against Chelsea, with Virgil van Dijk's late extra-time header securing a 1-0 win.

Last October, his parents fell victim to a harrowing kidnapping ordeal by armed assailants at a petrol station in Colombia. While his mother, Cilenis Marulanda, was rescued within hours, his father, Luis Manuel 'Mane' Diaz, endured nearly two weeks in captivity before being released.
Reflecting on the emotional journey, Diaz acknowledged the role his parents played in his success, stating, "I dedicate this title to my mum and dad (who are at Wembley). For everything they went through it makes it so much more special to celebrate this with my family."
Despite the physical and mental challenges posed by the match, Diaz emphasized the team's resilience and preparation, asserting, "It was a very tough match and big matches are played this way. It was very physical and we were very tired at the end but we were able to deliver the result and I knew we can make it."
He further remarked on the rigorous season Liverpool endured, highlighting their meticulous preparation for such pivotal encounters.
