Chelsea coach, Mauricio Pochettino delivers disappointing news as Wesley Fofana's injury woes persist
In a blow to Chelsea's defensive lineup, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Wesley Fofana will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a knee injury setback.
Fofana, who has endured a challenging spell since joining the Blues, suffered the setback during pre-season and has been unable to recover fully.
The French defender's debut season with Chelsea was marred by injuries, and his second year at the club has proved equally troublesome.
Despite hopes for a return to action, Pochettino expressed doubt regarding Fofana's availability for the remainder of the campaign during a media briefing held on Friday, March 1st.
Pochettino stated, "I don’t think we will see him back before the end of this season, unfortunately. You never know, of course. But it looks like this now."
Since his high-profile transfer from Leicester City in 2022, Fofana has struggled to find his form at Stamford Bridge, with persistent injuries hampering his progress. Despite the significant investment in the player, Fofana's inability to maintain fitness has posed a consistent challenge for Chelsea's defensive lineup.
