Nabil Bentaleb, a 29-year-old professional footballer who formerly played for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, is considering retiring from the sport after experiencing a cardiac arrest last week.
The news comes after his current club, Lille, announced on Thursday that Bentaleb had been hospitalized due to a serious health issue and is receiving medical attention at Lille University Hospital.
During his time at Tottenham, Bentaleb made significant contributions to the team, appearing in various matches during the 2013-2014 season.
Currently, Bentaleb plays for Lille in the French Ligue 1, having joined the team in August 2023. His contract is set to expire on June 30, 2026. However, his recent health scare may force him to reconsider his career, potentially leading to an early retirement from professional football.
