Multi-Vehicle Collision in Lagos State Results in 19 Injuries
On Friday, June 14, a major traffic accident occurred in the Ketu area of Lagos State, involving a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle, a commercial yellow bus (Danfo), and an articulated truck. The collision resulted in 19 injuries.
Eyewitnesses and initial investigations suggest that the truck, heading towards Ketu, lost control and veered into the path of the BRT bus, which was traveling towards Ojota. The collision forced the BRT bus into the service lane, where it struck the Danfo bus.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) responded promptly, dispatching a team from the Command and Control Centre to the scene under the Ojota interchange bridge at around 12 noon, despite heavy rain.
LASEMA's pre-hospital care team provided immediate medical attention to the injured, with four individuals transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No fatalities were reported.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion in the area, leading to extended delays for motorists. However, LASEMA's quick response helped to mitigate the impact and ensure the safety of those involved.
