Arne Slot's tenure as Liverpool manager got off to a disappointing start, as the Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the AXA Training Centre.
Despite fielding a strong squad, featuring the likes of Mohamed Salah, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool was unable to find the back of the net.
Preston, on the other hand, made the most of their opportunity, with Robbie Brady scoring the decisive goal from 40 yards out in the first half.
This match marked Liverpool's first pre-season outing, while Preston has already played three friendlies this summer. The result may not be a cause for concern, given the early stages of preparation, but it does highlight the work ahead for Slot as he looks to make his mark on the team.
