Jurrien Timber has made a significant return to the Netherlands national team following his recovery from an ACL injury.
This call-up comes as the team prepares for their upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Germany.
Timber, who plays as a defender for Arsenal, suffered a severe knee injury early in the previous season, which sidelined him until April 2024. His last appearance for the Dutch national team was in March 2023 during a heavy defeat to France.
Joining Jurrien in the squad is his twin brother, Quinten Timber, a Feyenoord player who also missed out on the European Championship due to a thigh injury. This marks an important moment for both brothers as they rejoin the national team for these crucial fixtures.
Coach Ronald Koeman has made several adjustments to the squad, with notable absences including Steven Bergwijn, Memphis Depay, and Daley Blind, the latter having retired from international football. The inclusion of Jurrien Timber and other fresh faces like Jorrel Hato from Ajax signals a strategic shift as the Netherlands aims to solidify its position in the Nations League.
