Nigerian rapper Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, widely known as Ruggedman, has shared his reasons for discontinuing support for the self-proclaimed social media activist, VeryDarkMan. In a recent episode of the Echoo Room podcast, Ruggedman elaborated on his decision, citing concerns over VeryDarkMan's invasive tactics.

Ruggedman initially supported VeryDarkMan for his focus on issues like the NAFDAC registration of products. However, his support waned when VeryDarkMan began delving into individuals' private lives, particularly targeting women. Ruggedman criticized this shift, describing it as a distraction from the activist's original goals.

He commented, "I liked VeryDarkMan in the beginning when he started with the whole NAFDAC number thing, but when he started going personal into people’s private lives, especially with women, that to me, he is just distracting himself."

Ruggedman drew an analogy to illustrate his point, comparing VeryDarkMan's new approach to a police officer using a weapon as their first line of defense rather than as a last resort. He emphasized that professionals should handle criticism with tact and not resort to personal attacks.

Further, Ruggedman expressed discontent with VeryDarkMan’s shift in focus. "His approach is what I don’t like anymore. He was calling out people that sell products without a NAFDAC number, that’s amazing, but now what do you hear about him? Iyabo Ojo and her daughter kind of thing, that’s why I said it is his approach I’m not okay with."

Ruggedman speculated that VeryDarkMan's recent comments, which involved accusations against certain retired actresses, might have been influenced by the controversy surrounding Mohbad. He noted that such inflammatory statements invite backlash, reflecting the problematic nature of invading private lives.
