Yobe State has taken decisive action in response to the increasing violence and unrest by instituting a 24-hour curfew in Potiskum, Gashua, Nguru, and other towns impacted by the nationwide protests against poor governance.
These protests have recently been tainted by instances of looting and vandalism carried out by hoodlums.

Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), the Security Advisor to the Governor of Yobe State, issued a statement regarding the deteriorating security conditions in the affected towns. The statement detailed how the protests have been exploited by some individuals to commit damage and theft, targeting both government and private properties.

"In light of the escalating situation," Brigadier-General Abdulsalam said, "the state government has decided to impose a 24-hour curfew in Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru." He further advised, "The public is strongly urged to adhere to this curfew order and remain indoors to help restore peace in these areas and across the state."
