The controversy erupted after Aisha publicly supported the Falanas in their demand for a retraction and apology from VDM, following his release of a purported audio recording involving crossdresser Bobrisky and an unidentified man.
Recently, VDM shared an audio conversation where Bobrisky allegedly claimed that Falz, the son of prominent lawyer Femi Falana, reached out to him regarding a potential presidential pardon. According to the claims, this pardon could be secured for 10 million naira, ostensibly to clear Bobrisky’s criminal record. In response, VDM expressed his disdain for the Falanas’ association with Bobrisky, questioning Falz's character with the remark, “abi Falz dey do,” which many interpreted as an insinuation about Falz's sexual orientation. The Falanas have since announced their intention to take legal action against VDM.
In her earlier comments, Aisha cautioned that if the Falanas allowed their conflict with VDM to go unchallenged, it might create the impression that they were guilty of the accusations made in the audio recording. This statement, however, drew criticism from some Nigerians, who accused Aisha of conspiring with the Falanas to discredit VDM.
Responding to these accusations, Aisha took to her X handle to clarify her position. She wrote, “I have just seen an accusation that all I am interested in is to bring VDM down. As in because I want to do his work or I want to be helping people?” She further emphasized her stance, stating, “I do not want to help people. I just want people to not need my help, and anyone that takes on whatever actually helps me to be my lazy self.”
Aisha concluded her remarks by asserting that regardless of any ongoing disputes, “it doesn’t give anyone the right to tarnish anyone’s hard-earned reputation.” She challenged the notion that public figures should remain passive in the face of slander, proclaiming, “THAT BE THE BIGGER PERSON NONSENSE HAS TO STOP!” Through her statements, Aisha Yesufu continues to advocate for accountability and integrity in public discourse.
