Ángel Di María recently shared his candid opinion on the worst manager of his football career, unequivocally naming Louis van Gaal. "The worst manager is Van Gaal, you can be sure of that. In case you had any doubt, I'll clear that up for you right now," Di María stated in an interview with ESPN Argentina.
Di María's tenure at Manchester United was notably challenging. He joined the club in 2014 for a then-British record fee of £59.7 million (€75.6 million). Despite the high expectations, his time at Old Trafford was short-lived, lasting only one season. During his stint, he made 27 appearances and scored 3 goals for the team.
Before his move to Manchester United, Di María had an illustrious career with several top clubs. He began his professional journey with Rosario Central in Argentina, before moving to Benfica in 2007. His impressive performances in Portugal earned him a transfer to Real Madrid in 2010, where he enjoyed significant success, including winning the La Liga title and the UEFA Champions League.
After leaving Manchester United, Di María joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2015, where he became a key player, winning multiple league titles and domestic cups. He later played for Juventus before returning to Benfica in 2023.
