The late football star was found dead at the prestigious Palazzo Tirso Hotel, a 5-star establishment in his home country of Italy, on Sunday, September 29. His death has left fans, friends, and the football community in deep mourning.

According to local media, Capone had been out with friends before the tragic incident. After a sudden fall, he suffered a fatal blow to the head. Despite the prompt arrival of medical services, efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful. There is also speculation that a sudden cardiac event may have caused the fall, though this remains unconfirmed.

Born in Cagliari, Capone had strong ties to his hometown and was a rising star in the city’s football club. He joined the first team at 19 and made his professional debut in Serie B during the 2000-01 season, facing Crotone. He continued to play for Cagliari in Serie A and also represented clubs such as Sora, Treviso, Vicenza, Grosseto, and Salernitana during his career.

In his time with Cagliari, Capone played in 123 matches, scoring 12 goals and providing 7 assists. His contributions on the field were widely appreciated, and his impact on the club remains profound. Reflecting on his legacy, Cagliari issued a heartfelt statement, saying, "The bond with his homeland will remain unbreakable for a man who was always characterized by his professionalism, dedication, and passion. Qualities that will stay in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, both on and off the field. Cagliari Calcio embraces his family in this moment of profound grief. Rest in peace, Andrea."

Following his departure from Cagliari, Capone went on trial with Celtic, where he played in two pre-season friendlies for the Scottish club. Shortly afterward, he returned to Italy, signing with Serie B side Vicenza. He also had brief stints at Grosseto and Salernitana before retiring from professional football in 2010. His untimely passing marks a poignant moment in Italian football, as the sport says goodbye to a figure known for his passion and professionalism.
