Last week, Agatha shared images of Stephanie’s wedding, including a video showing her escorting their daughter to meet her groom, Aaron, at the altar. This video sparked curiosity and debate, with many questioning why Fred, Stephanie’s father, was not the one to fulfill this traditional role, especially considering that the former couple had united for their son Oreva’s wedding in Nigeria the previous year.
In response, Fred Amata took to Facebook, posting a detailed reaction where he referred to Agatha’s actions as "an abomination." He emphasized that such a gesture is not customary anywhere in Africa, particularly in Delta State, where a father is traditionally expected to walk his daughter down the aisle, especially when he is actively involved in her life. Fred described Agatha's decision as a direct affront to cultural norms.
Fred also revealed in his post that the wedding date and time were deliberately concealed from him, despite him previously offering his blessings to the couple. Sharing photos of Stephanie and Aaron visiting him prior to the wedding, Fred questioned why he was sidelined from such an important moment. He further reflected on his failed marriage, shedding light on his contributions to Agatha’s career success, including his instrumental role in creating the popular talk show Inside-Out with Agatha, which became a national hit and boosted her public profile.
He lamented, "For over 20 years, I kept silent, refraining from commenting on my failed marriage, allowing the 'good wife' to shine while hoping the wounds would heal and perhaps reconciliation would be possible." He accused Agatha of using his name to further her own ambitions and belittle his accomplishments, all while gaining fame and fortune through the talk show he had conceptualized for her.
Fred recounted how Inside-Out with Agatha was born out of his creative vision, with him promising Agatha that she would become as prominent as Oprah Winfrey. He highlighted the success of the show, noting that it had become "a runaway hit," and credited his own hard work and connections for its rapid rise to prominence. He stated that despite the success of the show, it became a source of tension in their marriage, and ultimately, the catalyst for its breakdown.
He went on to express frustration at being marginalized, saying, "For 20 years, I swallowed it. My reputation diminished as the 'good wife' gathered momentum." Fred accused Agatha of using her success to build an empire while discarding his contributions, highlighting that she had even gone as far as to register a new company to take full control of the program they had once built together.
In a particularly emotional part of his post, Fred decried Agatha’s decision to "manipulate" their daughter and her husband by concealing the wedding plans from him. Despite giving his blessing and being in the same city as his daughter at the time of the wedding, Fred expressed shock that he was left out of such a significant moment in her life. He concluded by urging the public to reflect on the tradition and cultural importance of a father's role in his daughter’s marriage, calling Agatha’s actions "an affront to tradition and decency."
