Guardiola, noting the severity of the situation, shared, “We’re in trouble with injuries; we only have 13 first-team players available.”

City’s squad challenges were compounded by last-minute lineup changes, as Manuel Akanji withdrew due to a muscle issue, and Savinho was stretchered off during the match.

Tottenham took control early with Timo Werner scoring in the 5th minute, assisted by Dejan Kulusevski. Pape Matar Sarr doubled the lead in the 25th minute, once again with an assist from Kulusevski.

City’s Matheus Nunes provided a glimmer of hope with a goal in first-half stoppage time, assisted by Savinho, bringing the score to 2-1. Despite their efforts, City couldn’t find an equalizer, leading to their elimination from the competition.

City now faces a challenging schedule with limited player availability, including upcoming Premier League and Champions League matches.

Guardiola emphasized that his team would need to rally, saying, “In these situations, the players make a step forward, they are more together than ever, and we will try to do this week in a short time for recovery.”
