Manchester United Dismiss Erik ten Hag as Manager Following Poor Start to Season; Ruud van Nistelrooy Named Interim Coach

Manchester United have announced the termination of manager Erik ten Hag's contract following a disappointing start to the season. This decision comes in the wake of a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, leaving the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League standings.

Appointed in April 2022, ten Hag guided United to notable successes, including the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. Despite these achievements, the current season has seen the team secure only three victories in their first nine league matches, prompting the club's leadership to take decisive action.

In an official statement, the club said: "Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men's first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future."

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who recently joined the coaching staff, will assume the position of interim manager as the club searches for a permanent replacement.
