The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) is in mourning after the passing of veteran actor Mudashiru Olabiyi Ayobami.
Mr. Latin, TAMPAN's President, expressed profound sorrow over Olabiyi's death on October 16, 2024, following a brief illness in Oyo State.
In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Mr. Latin referred to Olabiyi’s passing as a significant loss for the industry. He highlighted Olabiyi's dedication, leadership, and invaluable contributions to TAMPAN, emphasizing that his absence will be keenly felt. Mr. Latin urged the public to support Olabiyi’s family during this challenging period and to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.

Prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, including Seyi Edun, Faithia Williams, and Doyin Amid, also offered their condolences in the comments section of Mr. Latin's post. Olabiyi’s passing contributes to a troubling trend this year, as several Yoruba actors have also died, marking a time of considerable loss for the film sector.
