Newcastle Ousts Chelsea from League Cup with 2-0 Victory as Isak Shines and Disasi Own Goal Adds to Blues' Misery

Chelsea faced a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United in the League Cup on October 30, 2024, at St. James' Park.

Newcastle took control early in the match, with Alexander Isak opening the scoring in the 23rd minute, assisted by Sandro Tonali. 

Just three minutes later, Chelsea’s Axel Disasi accidentally contributed to Newcastle's lead with an own goal, bringing the score to 2-0 by the 26th minute.

Throughout the match, Chelsea struggled to create clear scoring chances. Although Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku made efforts to turn the tide, Newcastle’s defense held firm, maintaining their lead until the final whistle. This result ended Chelsea’s League Cup journey for this season, while Newcastle advanced to the next round.
