The former Manchester City defender had filed a claim with an employment tribunal, alleging that the club unlawfully withheld his salary following charges of sexual offences brought against him in August 2021.

Earlier this year, Mendy was acquitted of all charges. Following a tribunal ruling in his favor, he is now entitled to a significant portion of his claimed unpaid wages.

In his statement, Mendy conveyed both relief and gratitude for the tribunal's judgment. He remarked, "Today the Employment Tribunal upheld the main part of my claim against Manchester City Football Club for unpaid wages, finding that the Club had unlawfully made deductions from my wages for a total period of 16 months and 23 days."

Reflecting on the lengthy legal process, he continued, "Having had to wait for 3 years for my wages, I am delighted with the decision and sincerely hope that the Club will now do the honourable thing and pay the outstanding amounts, as well as the other amounts promised to me under the contract, without further delay, so I can finally put this difficult part of my life behind me."

Mendy also extended his appreciation to his legal team, agent, and family, recognizing their steadfast support throughout the ordeal.

During his tenure at Manchester City, Mendy made a total of 50 appearances, scored 2 goals, and provided 9 assists. Additionally, he contributed to 16 clean sheets and registered 11 blocked shots, making his on-field contributions notable alongside his off-field challenges.
