Spurs Held in Europa League Thriller: Late Hummels Goal Denies Tottenham Victory

Tottenham Hotspur was held to a 2-2 draw by Roma in an action-packed Europa League match last night. The match saw goals from both sides, with Tottenham taking an early lead through a penalty from Heung-Min Son, who calmly converted from the spot after Pape Matar-Sarr was fouled by Mats Hummels in the second minute.

Roma responded swiftly, with Evan Ndicka heading in a cross from Paulo Dybala to equalize just minutes later. The visitors thought they had taken the lead again when Stephan El Shaarawy volleyed home, but the goal was ruled out for offside by VAR.

Tottenham regained the lead before halftime when Brennan Johnson finished off a cross from Dejan Kulusevski. However, Roma continued to press and were rewarded for their persistence in injury time when Mats Hummels scored from close range, tapping in a cross from Angelino to secure a point for his team.

The draw sees Tottenham fall outside the top eight in the Europa League standings, while Roma earns their first point under returning manager Claudio Ranieri.
