Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is set to miss their Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Crystal Palace tonight.
The England international, who was substituted during Arsenal’s weekend goalless draw against Everton, is being rested following a knock sustained in that match.
Manager Mikel Arteta had previously suggested that Rice’s availability would depend on his recovery, but the club has decided to err on the side of caution. Rice’s absence adds to Arsenal’s list of unavailable players, with defenders Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riccardo Calafiori also sidelined due to injuries.
Arteta acknowledged the difficulty of back-to-back encounters with the same opponent but emphasized the importance of progressing in the competition. He highlighted the value of the Carabao Cup as a platform to build momentum and confidence within the squad.
Tonight’s game at the Emirates Stadium kicks off at 8:30 pm and offers Arsenal a chance to move one step closer to a potential trophy this season.
