Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided an update on the fitness of his players, stating, "John Stones is not close to returning yet. De Bruyne is closer and even, even better."
Guardiola remains optimistic about the squad's potential this season, adding, "With all the squad this season, we will be close to the level we reached last season."
Last weekend, Manchester City faced Liverpool at Anfield and suffered a 2-0 defeat. The goals came from Cody Gakpo in the 12th minute and Mohamed Salah from the penalty spot in the 78th minute.
In midweek, City played Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League and drew 3-3 after surrendering a three-goal lead. Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan scored for City, but Feyenoord's late comeback, with goals from Anis Hadj Moussa, Santiago Gimenez, and David Hancko, resulted in a dramatic draw.
This week, Manchester City will host Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night in the Premier League. Guardiola and his team are eager to end their seven-game winless streak and return to winning ways.
