Bayer Leverkusen secured their place in the Champions League round of 16 with a 2-0 victory over Sparta Prague on Wednesday. The German side delivered a dominant performance, controlling possession and limiting their opponents' attacking threats throughout the match.
Leverkusen took the lead in the 32nd minute through Florian Wirtz, who expertly finished past goalkeeper Peter Vindahl. The goal came after Jeremie Frimpong found Wirtz in a dangerous position, allowing the midfielder to slot the ball into the net with precision.

The Bundesliga leaders doubled their advantage in the 64th minute when Nathan Tella reacted quickly to a rebound. Alex Grimaldo's well-struck free-kick forced a save from Vindahl, but the Sparta goalkeeper could only parry the ball into Tella’s path, and the forward made no mistake in converting from close range.

Sparta Prague struggled to mount any significant challenge, creating few clear-cut chances. Their forward Victor Olatunji had two quick attempts early in the second half, but neither troubled Leverkusen’s defense. The Czech side ended their European campaign with a disappointing record of one win, one draw, and six losses.

With this victory, Leverkusen continued their impressive run under head coach Xabi Alonso, further establishing themselves as strong contenders in European competition.
