Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has expressed unwavering support for goalkeeper Robert Sánchez despite the Spaniard’s recent mistakes, including one that contributed to Chelsea's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on January 25, 2025.
During the match, Sánchez's error allowed Erling Haaland to score, compounding Chelsea’s struggles.
Following the loss, Maresca commented, “We trust Robert for sure. He is completely aware he is making mistakes in this moment. We trust Robert. We have one entire week and we will see the reaction for the next game.”
This comes after another incident in a prior match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where Sánchez's lapse led to an equalizer before Chelsea eventually secured a 3-1 victory.
Maresca remains optimistic, highlighting the importance of growth through setbacks and looking forward to Sánchez’s response in the upcoming fixtures.
