Niko Kovač Appointed Borussia Dortmund Head Coach Until 2026
Borussia Dortmund has officially named Niko Kovač as their new head coach, securing his services until June 2026. The 53-year-old manager takes over following the club’s decision to part ways with Nuri Şahin.
Kovač brings extensive coaching experience, having previously led teams such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich, AS Monaco, and VfL Wolfsburg. During his tenure at Frankfurt, he guided the club to a DFB-Pokal triumph in 2018 before moving to Bayern Munich, where he won both the Bundesliga title and another DFB-Pokal in 2019. His most recent role was with Wolfsburg, where he was relieved of his duties in March 2024.
With Dortmund aiming for a resurgence in form, Kovač is expected to implement a structured and disciplined tactical approach. The club’s leadership has expressed confidence in his ability to elevate the team’s performance both domestically and in European competitions.
Kovač will begin preparations immediately as Borussia Dortmund looks to strengthen its position in the Bundesliga and compete at a high level in continental tournaments.
