West Ham United has officially announced the departure of Head Coach Julen Lopetegui after a tenure of approximately seven months.
This decision follows a series of unsatisfactory performances, including recent defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City, which have left the club in 14th position in the Premier League.
Lopetegui, who assumed the managerial role in May 2024, was unable to meet the club's expectations despite a significant investment exceeding £127 million in new players during the summer transfer window. His tenure was marked by defensive vulnerabilities and internal conflicts, notably with key players and Technical Director Tim Steidten.
The club has initiated discussions with former Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter to succeed Lopetegui. Potter is anticipated to assume the role promptly, with his inaugural match potentially being the upcoming FA Cup fixture against Aston Villa.
