Arne Slot Criticizes Darwin Núñez’s Work Ethic: “I Can’t Accept It Twice”

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has expressed dissatisfaction with forward Darwin Núñez's recent performances, particularly highlighting a decline in work ethic during matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa. Despite a missed opportunity against Villa, Slot emphasized that his primary concern was Núñez's subsequent demeanor on the field.

"I can accept every miss, especially from a player who scored two very important goals against Brentford," Slot stated. "What was harder for me to accept was his behavior after that chance. It was not the usual Darwin who works his ass off. He was too disappointed after missing that chance."

In response to the criticism, Núñez took to social media, asserting his commitment to the team: "If I fall, I get up. You'll never see me give up. I'm going to give it my all until the last day I'm here in Liverpool."

Slot acknowledged Núñez's improved attitude in training following their discussions, noting an "incredible" work rate in recent sessions. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards and effort levels as Liverpool leads the Premier League by 11 points.

As Liverpool prepares to face Newcastle United today, Slot's focus remains on ensuring all players exhibit unwavering dedication on the field.
