Coventry City Football Club has ended a 75-year wait for a league victory over Swansea City with a 2-0 win at the Swansea.com Stadium. The match, held on February 1, 2025, saw goals from Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante secure the win for Coventry.

This victory marks Coventry's first league win against Swansea since October 1981, ending a run of eight losses and ten draws in their previous 18 encounters.

Under the management of Frank Lampard, who took over in November 2024, Coventry has experienced a significant turnaround. The team has moved from 17th place, just above the relegation zone, to 11th place, now only three points behind the final playoff spot.

The match began with Simms opening the scoring in the 17th minute, volleying home after a low cross from Thomas-Asante. Just before halftime, Thomas-Asante doubled the lead with a remarkable goal from nearly 40 yards out, chipping the goalkeeper.

Looking ahead, Coventry City will face league leaders Leeds United at home on February 5, 2025, followed by an FA Cup fourth-round tie against Ipswich Town.
