Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly is set to travel to Turin following a verbal agreement with Juventus. According to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer fee has been settled, and Juventus is now awaiting Newcastle's approval of the payment terms before finalizing the deal, which includes arranging Kelly's medical examination.
This move comes after Juventus intensified their pursuit of Kelly to bolster their defensive lineup. The Italian club had previously seen a €13 million offer from Fenerbahçe for Kelly rejected by Newcastle. Juventus is now optimistic about securing the defender for a fee around €15 million.
Kelly, who joined Newcastle from Bournemouth six months ago, has made 13 appearances for the Magpies. However, with the return of Sven Botman and the emergence of Lewis Hall, his opportunities have become limited. A transfer to Juventus presents a promising prospect for both the player and the club.
The completion of this transfer is contingent upon Newcastle's approval of the payment terms. Once finalized, Kelly will undergo a medical examination in Turin to conclude the move.
