Matheus Cunha, the 25-year-old Brazilian forward, has expressed his desire to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers in search of greater career opportunities.
This comes as a huge boost for Arsenal who were keen on the forward during the January transfer window until he signed a contract extension.

In a recent interview, he revealed, "Now we’re close to achieving our goal of staying up... I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step." He continued, "I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential."

While Cunha received numerous offers during his time at Wolves, he chose to remain at the club, particularly in the midst of their struggle to avoid relegation. He reflected, "I had a lot of offers but I wouldn’t feel well if I had done it... I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone."

Recall that Cunha's loyalty was demonstrated when he signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with the club in early 2025, which reportedly included a £62.5 million release clause.

At that time, he expressed his deep connection to the club, stating, "I feel like it’s my home. I feel the admiration of the fans, and this is something that I never believed I would get when I first came here."

During the 2024-2025 season, Cunha has been a key player for Wolves, making 26 Premier League appearances, scoring 13 goals, and providing four assists. His impressive performances have reinforced his reputation as a skilled and ambitious forward, eager to take the next step in his career.

With Wolves now secure in their Premier League status, Cunha is keen to explore new opportunities that align with his aspirations. His desire to compete for major trophies has caught the attention of top Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, who are considering strengthening their attacking lineups.
