Super Eagles Stars Arrive at Camp Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Fulham stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, along with Southampton midfielder Joe Aribo, have arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Kigali ahead of Nigeria's upcoming fixtures. The players joined the national team in preparation for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches during this international break.

Upcoming Matches

Nigeria will resume their qualifying campaign with an away clash against Rwanda on March 21 at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. The Super Eagles will then host Zimbabwe on March 25 at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. These matches are vital for Nigeria’s hopes of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Group Standing and Expectations

Currently, Nigeria sits in a challenging position within Group C, having earned three points from four matches. The team trails Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin, who each have seven points. Under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles are determined to strengthen their position and aim for automatic qualification, which is reserved for the group winners. The four best runners-up will enter continental play-offs for potential additional places.

Early Arrivals and Team Spirit

Joining the Fulham duo and Aribo in camp are Torino's Ola Aina, Watford's William Troost-Ekong, and Atalanta's Ademola Lookman. The players' early arrivals highlight their dedication and commitment to the national cause, fostering a sense of camaraderie ahead of the crucial fixtures.
