Leicester City Relegated to the Championship Following 1-0 Defeat to Liverpool
Leicester City has been officially relegated from the Premier League after suffering a 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool on April 20, 2025. The decisive goal came in the 76th minute from substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold, propelling Liverpool closer to securing their 20th top-flight title.

Leicester's relegation was confirmed not only by their own loss but also by results elsewhere. West Ham's draw against Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers' unexpected victory over Manchester United sealed the Foxes' fate. This marks a swift return to the Championship after just one season in the Premier League.

The defeat also highlighted Leicester's struggles at home, as they set a Premier League record by failing to score in nine consecutive home league matches. Their recent form has been dismal, with only one win in their last 18 matches and a current ten-game winless streak.

Liverpool, on the other hand, moved within one win of clinching the league title, now sitting at 79 points from 33 matches. They will have the opportunity to secure the championship next weekend against Tottenham Hotspur, or potentially earlier if Arsenal loses to Crystal Palace midweek.

Leicester's relegation marks a significant downturn for a club that once stood atop English football, having won the Premier League title in the 2015-16 season.
