Barcelona's match against Espanyol was briefly halted following a disturbing incident outside the RCDE Stadium, where a vehicle struck several supporters ahead of kickoff.

According to reports, a woman driving a white sedan allegedly lost control of the vehicle and drove into a crowd of Espanyol fans gathered near the stadium entrance. Initial eyewitness accounts indicated that the car may have initially hit a young girl, prompting others to react by surrounding the vehicle and hurling objects at it. In response, the driver accelerated, injuring more people before coming to a stop near a metal barrier.

Emergency services were swiftly on the scene, and local authorities confirmed that thirteen individuals were injured. While three were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, others received precautionary medical attention either on site or at nearby facilities. The broadcast team assured viewers that none of the injuries were serious.

The match was paused for approximately eight minutes while security and medical officials assessed the situation. Once it was deemed safe to proceed, play resumed, with Barcelona going on to secure a 2-0 win and their 28th La Liga title.

Catalan police have arrested the driver on suspicion of dangerous driving. Catalonia’s President, Salvador Illa, later commented that the incident appeared to be accidental, though investigations remain ongoing.
