Liverpool have officially secured the signing of Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen in a €35 million deal. The 24-year-old defender, who played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning campaign, will join the Premier League champions when the transfer window opens on Sunday.
Frimpong’s arrival at Anfield comes as the club looks to strengthen its squad following Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid. While Frimpong is not a direct replacement for Alexander-Arnold, his versatility allows him to play both as a right-back and a winger, offering Liverpool manager Arne Slot more tactical flexibility.

During his time at Leverkusen, Frimpong showcased his attacking prowess, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 48 matches last season. His dynamic playing style, characterized by his ability to carry the ball forward and create goal-scoring opportunities, is expected to add a new dimension to Liverpool’s attacking setup.

Frimpong’s move to Liverpool also benefits his former club Celtic, which will receive approximately £5 million due to a sell-on clause in his contract. Having previously played for Manchester City’s academy, Frimpong’s journey has seen him develop into one of Europe’s most exciting full-backs.

Liverpool fans can expect Frimpong to bring energy, pace, and creativity to the team as they aim to build on their Premier League success and compete for major trophies in the upcoming season.
