Ballon d’Or Nominees to Be Unveiled on August 7 Ahead of September Ceremony
France Football and UEFA have officially confirmed that the nominees for the 2025 Ballon d’Or will be unveiled on Friday, August 7. The shortlist—comprising the top contenders in both the men’s and women’s categories—will be revealed that afternoon.

The final awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 22, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. This edition marks the 69th annual Ballon d’Or, celebrating performances from August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, in line with the new seasonal award format.

A total of 13 awards will be presented, including three newly introduced distinctions: the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), the Gerd Müller Trophy (top scorer), and the Kopa Trophy (best young player) in the women’s category. Additional recognitions include awards for best player (Ballon d’Or), best coach (Johan Cruyff Trophy), Club of the Year, and the socially minded Socrates Award.

Voting will be conducted by 100 journalists representing FIFA’s top-ranked nations for the men’s award, with the women’s award featuring voters from the top 50 countries.

Leading figures in the running for this year’s prize include Barcelona’s emerging star Lamine Yamal, hailed by Spain’s coach as “the best player in the world,” and PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé, fresh off a historic Champions League triumph. Other high-profile names likely to feature include Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Jude Bellingham.
