Tanzanian music icon Diamond Platnumz has officially confirmed his marriage to fellow artist Zuchu, while indicating that their primary wedding celebration is still to take place.
The announcement was made on 19 January 2025, during a political gathering in Dodoma, where Diamond pledged to wed Zuchu in February—just before the start of Ramadan .
Zuchu echoed his statement, affirming that Diamond "has said it will happen next month, before Ramadan," a remark he acknowledged with a nod during the same event . This confirms that the pair has already completed a private nikkah ceremony—their official religious union—on 2 June 2025, and are now preparing for a larger traditional and public celebration .
However, speculations regarding the seriousness of Diamond’s commitment have been fueled by members of Zuchu’s family. Her mother, renowned taarab singer Khadija Kopa, clarified that no formal proposal or dowry payment (“posa” or “mahari”) has been delivered. She emphasized that these culturally significant steps are yet to occur .
